A night out in Santiago

Here’s a wee video sent by Jon Scullard, a Scots expat living in Santiago de Compostela the capital of Galicia – the country which is probably Scotland’s best friend in the entire world.  The video was shot last night, Tuesday 22 July.

The band is A Banda Das Crechas, one of Galicia’s best known folk bands.  The guy waving the saltire tells the crowd that the world doesn’t stay still, Europe is in movement, and within two months the people of Scotland are going to change the world, because we’re going to say : YES!  We want independence!

  3. In the event of a Yes vote, we must find a way of thanking and supporting our friends in their referendum which isn’t long after.

  4. Max – I think you may be mixing up Galicia with Catalunya.

Hello everybody in Scotland. The guy waving the saltire is me. We believe that it’s possible and will be the way for another countries without state. Good luck from Santiago de Compostela.

    • Manuel Amigo: thank you for your fantastic support last night!
I’m so proud of my people here in Galiza! You have no idea how many Galicians are involved in Solidarity with Scotland. It is a joy every single photo, every single contribution, and there will be more suprises on our National Day, on the 25th.
You Scots are here with us, and we’ll be here for you! And you will win!

Nearly missed this till a friend pointed it out. What a fantastic band! Must get them over for Celtic Collections as they are great musicians. Wonderful support from Galicia. Really appreciate it.

    • cuddyback says:

They’ve played twice at Celtic, Capella: in 2012 & 2014, at that wee church… err St Andrews in the Square? (Or something like that). And we did the Festival Club and the Piping Centre too for good measure!
