Diver-yes-ity : The missing verse

Silly me.  I missed out an entire verse of lyrics to the Diver-yes-ity (officially my new favourite word) song.  So here’s the complete version for everyone who wants a Caledonian sing-a-long-a-Gaynor.

You wanted us afraid
froze and terrified
So we’d think we could never live
unless we’re subsidised
But then we read so far and wide
seeing the figures prove you wrong
We grew strong
We learned to sing a different song
We won’t go back
into the box
that you kept Scotland in for decades
’cause we’ve unpicked all the locks
We’re looking to the future
We’re going to set this country free
We’re reclaiming independence
We are diver-yes-ity

Go on now go! Trident no more!
 Take it away now
’cause it’s not welcome anymore.
Weren’t you the ones who tried to smear us with your lies
you thought we’d crumble
but we didn’t lay down and die
Scotland’s alive
Scotland will thrive
as long as we know how to love
we know we’ll take the prize
The wounds the Tories caused will heal
and we’ll build our commonweal
and we will thrive
Scotland will thrive (hey hey)

You took advantage of our trust until it fell apart
and now we don’t give a toss about Dave’s broken heart
And we spent oh so many years
in hopeless lost lonely despair, we used to cry
But now we hold our heads up high
And this land, we’ll make anew
not too wee too poor too stupid and in thrall to you
And if you feel like dropping by
you’ll find a Scots community
that’s for self-determination, justice and equality

Go on now go! Trident no more!
Take it away now
’cause it’s not welcome anymore.
Weren’t you the ones who tried to smear us with your lies
you thought we’d crumble
but we didn’t lay down and die
Scotland’s alive
Scotland will thrive
as long as we know how to love
we know we’ll take the prize
The wounds the Tories caused will heal
and we’ll build our commonweal
and we will thrive
Scotland will thrive (hey hey)

In other news, not so good I’m afraid, the other half was admitted to hospital on Friday evening.  He seems to have come down with an infection and is being kept in for tests.  Hopefully he’ll be home with me and the dug soon.

So new posts will be quite erratic for the next few days as I’ll be out at the hospital.  Over the weekend, I’ll be publishing some guest posts kindly written by readers of the blog.  We all have our stories to share.  If you’d like to share your story, please email me at the usual address weegingerdug [at] gmail.com

Hope Andy gets better quickly but in the meantime you don’t bother yourself about us, we can carry on amusing ourselves. Well maybe not as much as you can, love the song, got rid of the Lambada I woke up singing this morning, now doing a Gloria Gaynor without the pizazz. I cannot sing for toffee so doing it silently..
