Bought my hoose

I’m having an evening off from wit and repartee and have been a boring couch potato instead. There was some great news from Spain on Thursday. After almost two – very fraught – years, we’ve finally found a buyer for our house. So I have removed the “Buy my hoose” page, and after a long day of phone calls I’ve been relaxing and enjoying the fact that the burden of a huge worry has finally been lifted.

Both Andy and I would like to thank everyone who tweeted the details of our house and shared it on Facebook. It really helped to restore our hopes that we could find a buyer. In the end, the house has been bought by a Ukrainian couple who saw it while on holiday.

Unfortunately we’ve had to accept an offer which was quite a bit less than we were asking, even though we’d already reduced the original asking price quite a lot. But with the Spanish housing market the way it is, we’re in no position to refuse. We’ve had to accept an amount which is less than we need to buy the rented flat we currently live in, so have decided that we’re going to use the bulk of the money you have kindly donated to make up the shortfall. We hope that you’ll think this is an appropriate use of the money.

Thanks to your kindness and generosity we have a roof over our heads, and there is no way that words can express our gratitude. It’s been an emotional and exciting week. And it’s thanks to you.

Am off to have a wee greet again. That’s been happening a lot this week.
