A day off

I’m having a day off, or maybe two, because I’m going to play with model trams, watch videos, and do other generally inconsequential things. So nothing to see here, move along now.

Hey, just read about the model trams, I have a train needing a go, been in a box since the eighties. Mine too, got it for my Christmas one year cause I told my Husband I always wanted one.

Progress on the tram layout has been frustratingly slow. Or rather, progress on the track. I’m about to start yet another attempt at building the trackway. You know how they say third time is a charm? They’re lying, this is attempt number four.

I’ve got a pair of model Glasgow trams which started off life as model Leeds diecast trams without motors. A very talented reader of the blog repainted them in Glasgow Corporation livery for me, and they’re currently with a guy I know in England who is putting working motors and internal lights in them so they will run on standard model railway track. My very own model number 6 tram to Robroyston, and a number 9 to Auchenshuggle. They’re going to run on a tram layout I’m making as a memory aid / reminiscence project for elderly people and dementia sufferers. It’s my way of doing something about dementia.

I don’t know anything much about model railways, but I do love trams. My main interest is making scale model buildings. The Glasgow trams are eventually going to run along a model street full of wee Glesca tenement buildings. Here are some I made earlier, like on Blue Peter. https://weegingerdug.wordpress.com/?attachment_id=589

If you look very carefully there’s a tiny model man peeing up the close of the middle one. Because they’re Glesca tenements, and it’s traditional.

Love this, Paul, this should do the trick with trams as well, conjuring up those childhood memories.

There’s also someone having a ” hing oot o’ windae!” You couldn’t manage a back coort rammy per chance? Ah, happy days……

Have a great rest, I don’t know how you keep the work rate up as it is. Haste ye back.
